Intel Drivers
Do you own an Intel product, such as a laptop computer with an Intel Chip?
If so, you may be able to download free drivers from the internet. Drivers are software programs that provide instructions to your computer to enable you to run hardware components such as USB drives, cameras, faxes or printers.
You do need to know what operating system your computer uses, in order to download the correct driver system. Once you have this information handy, you can use one of two easy options to identify the driver you need to download.
The first option is Intel’s “Identify Your Product” tool.
This website tool gives you information on the type of product you have and identifies the correct device driver to run that hardware product on your computer system.
The second option to identify the correct Intel driver is to select your operating system from a drop down menu and then the website will display the available Intel driver downloads suitable for your system.
Intel has options for Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Vista and Server operating systems. However, you may need to know more detail about your operating system, as Intel offers different driver options for the Windows Vista Enterprise 32-bit system and the Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit system, for example.
The most common Intel driver download is the INF Update Utility for Intel 4, 3 and 900 Series Chipsets. This driver installs INF files that inform the operating system how to configure the Intel Chip set for specific functions, such as utilising a USB drive.
Other common Intel driver downloads are drivers for graphic products, notebooks, cameras, modems and PortGear USB adaptors.
You may even want to download a couple of drivers for the same product. For example, if you buy an Intel camera, or want to connect a digital camera to your Notebook with an Intel chip system, you may want to download the Intel Create and Share Camera Pack, Intel ProShare Product, and the Intel Imaging Applications for Kodak Picture CD.
Intel has free driver downloads that will ensure your Intel products interface smoothly with whatever operating system your computer uses.
