Description: in October 17, 1987, Kingston Technology was created. The founders of the company were John Tu and David Sun and the company was created as a result of lack of memory chips at that time. The founders were able to develop a Single In-Line Memory Module that makes use of existing technology.
In 1996, 80% of the company was acquired by SoftBank Corporation which was priced at $1.6 billion. In 1999, the founders were able to buy it back. Toshiba and Kingston then collaborated in November 1996 in order for the companies to distribute Toshiba personal computer memory upgrades. In July 2002, the company launched its patented memory tester. Then the company’s memory modules HyperX line was launched in November 2002. The same year, the patented EPOC chip-stacking technology was also released.
In 2004, the flash memory card warranty was changed by the company into a lifetime warranty. The USB drives’ DataTraveler Elite line was launched in September 2004. The drives made use of an embedded secure encryption.
